Staff Team

Marie Pike
Manager

I began my career as a childminder, whilst my own children were still young. When my youngest started school I volunteered at my local primary school and it was then that I discovered my love of Early Years. I enrolled in college and have never looked back. After successfully completing my Level 3 BTech Qualification, I took a role as a Reception Class Teaching Assistant where I spent 11 years. I have continued to train and learn, additionally completing a specialist Early Years Foundation Stage Practice qualification at Level 3.

I joined Bronte Nursery in 2018 as a Room leader. I enjoy the variety that each day brings and take so much pleasure in getting to know the children. To watch them develop and grow is so rewarding. In June 2020 I took over as Nursey Manager (Maternity Cover). This gives me the opportunity to be involved with all the children, parents and staff whilst overseeing the day to day running of Bronte Nursery is a privilege.

I truly believe every child should be given the very best opportunity to achieve their best, whatever their ability.

During my free time I enjoy reading, but I derive most pleasure from spending time with my family and two grandsons.

Gemma Bradbrook
Office Manager

I began my career at Bronte Nursery in 2013, working as one-to-one support for a child in Yellow Room.  I gained experience in most rooms before progressing to become a Deputy, and then Room Leader. After 7 years of working within the rooms with the children, the position of Office Manager became available.  Working alongside the other senior staff, I am now helping to manage the day-to-day running of the Nursery. Being able to work closely with the parents, as well as with the children, is a very rewarding experience. No two days are the same!

Outside work, I enjoy travelling, long walks and spending time with my family.

Lindsey Snell
Purple Room Leader

Once my youngest daughter started pre-school, I became a volunteer at the setting and found a love of Early Years. I really felt privileged to be with the younger children and watch them develop and explore the world around them.

Following 9 years as a Keyworker in a local pre-school, in 2012 I moved to Bronte Nursery. I relish working as the Room Leader in Purple Room, caring for the youngest children, and revel in welcoming new children and their families. My role also embraces building strong bonds with them, and seeing the children grow in confidence and self-esteem.

Additionally, in my role as Planning Manager, I am responsible for the implementation of Bronte Nursery’s mentor programme for junior members of staff, as well as supporting all colleagues in their development. I ensure all training is up to date, including statutory courses. I also oversee the Nursery’s approach to observations and the tracking of children’s development.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, yoga, walking and socialising with family and friends.

Emma Campbell
Green Room Leader

After my youngest child started school, I became a volunteer at my local school. I loved seeing the children develop and grow so decided to re-train. I qualified as a Teaching Assistant and worked there for 12 years, before joining Bronte Nursery as a nursery practitioner in 2019. All my previous experience had been at primary level, so I decided to upskill my knowledge in Early Years and completed Level 3 Early Years Educator course.

I continued my progression and became Deputy Room Leader in Blue Room before taking up the same position in Green Room.  Seeing the children become confident and independent individuals, watching them enjoy and create new experiences has been incredibly rewarding.  I achieved my dream of becoming Room Leader in December 2020.

In my spare time I love to bake, walk my dog and spend time with my family.

Millie Humphrey
Orange Room Leader

From a young age I’ve always known I’d enjoy a career in childcare as I grew up surrounded by children. As well as being part of a large family, my Mum was an amazing childminder and foster parent since I was 4 months old.

When I completed school I began an Apprenticeship in a Nursery and gained a Level 2 in Childcare qualification. I continued my studies at a new setting and gained my Level 3 in Childcare and shortly after, became a Deputy Room Leader.

Joining Bronte Nursery in October 2018 as Room Leader has been a fantastic journey and I am continuing to enjoy my new experiences with the lovely children who join us.

Kibbi Jarvis
Yellow Room Leader

Whilst at school I took a Diploma in Society, Health & Development as I have always been interested in the lives of children and how they grow and learn. I was inspired to enter childcare and ensure all children in my care were allowed the chance to build ideas, understand the world and become their own individuals.

I began working at Bronte alongside finishing my Level 3 qualification in childcare in 2014. Since then I have spent time in different rooms allowing me to gain experience with the variety of ages we have at Bronte. I am passionate about helping children to learn and achieve their potential as I believe children are able to grow in confidence when allowed the independence to create, explore and build using their own imagination. I joined Yellow Room in 2019, then additionally took on the position of Nursery SENCO where my role is to ensure all children are able to access all learning opportunities available at Bronte Nursery. I enjoy all aspects of my role as each day is so very different.

Following my move back to the UK from the USA I continued working in accounts management. I gained my professional HR qualification and my many responsibilities included payroll, pensions and personnel management.

Since joining Bronte School as Bursar in July 2016, I have been able to combine my HR and accounting experience in one role. I oversee the finance, HR and premises management of both Bronte Nursery and Bronte School.

Outside of school I am a keen gardener and having my own allotment keeps me very busy, especially during the summer months. I have one grown-up daughter, who is also an ex-Bronte pupil!

Les Butler

After working at a local Secondary School for 25 years as their Site Manager, I was very happy to join Bronte School in December 2016.

I have many interests including antiques, fly fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golf and birds of prey – I have even raised an Eagle Owl from a chick and he is now 10 years old! I am married with 2 children and have two lovely grandsons, who keep me busy.

You may see me around the Nursery as well as the School due to the variety in my job, which I very much enjoy.

Katie Hickmott
Nursing Support

I have always known I wanted to work with children, and since qualifying as a paediatric nurse in 2001, I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside young people and their families.

I started my career on the children’s ward at a local hospital and after starting a family I decided to take a position in the community, which I felt gave me a much better work/ life balance. Prior to joining Bronte in 2016, I worked as a Community Staff Nurse and worked across a number of schools in the area.

I am based at Bronte School and visit the Nursery to advise and promote the health and well-being of all the children. Outside of school I am a busy mum of 3 beautiful children, and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Paula Potter
Cook

My career in catering started over 15 years ago when my four children were of school age. I gained several qualifications including I Level 3 in Food Hygiene and Safety and enjoy the courses I participated in such as Dietarys, Allergens and Nutrition.

I began working at Bronte Nursery, in the kitchen, in September 2018. Cooking for the children at Bronte Nursery is a pleasure and I love to see how they have a positive relationship with nutritious and healthy food in a fun and encouraging environment.

I then go home and do it all again , which I thoroughly enjoy!
