Bronte School is an independent preparatory school, for 3 to 11 year olds, with a distinctive family feel and an emphasis on academic excellence.
Nurturing support for every individual is helped by the School’s single class entry, with maximum size of 20 per class. Each of the teachers knows all the children and parents very well. The School’s broad curriculum and first class academic systems give the best opportunities to each child to achieve, whether they are heading eventually for a grammar school (over 80% of our Year 6 cohorts), a non-selective state school or an independent school.
Set in a fine, spacious building, with plenty of outdoor garden and sports/play space, Bronte is conveniently located for any family living in Gravesend, Ebbsfleet, Dartford, Greenhithe, or the surrounding villages to the south and east.
The School’s Kindergarten class, with a maximum of 20 children and full time teacher, from the September following their 3rd birthday, overlaps with the Nursery’s Pre-School. For many, the Nursery’s extensive opening times, homely feel and broad curriculum are the key factors. For some, especially if there are older siblings already at Bronte School, term time-only opening works well and the slightly more school-like routine, curriculum and atmosphere suits.
Both School and Nursery are located less than 5 minutes’ walk from Gravesend station, which is 24 minutes journey time to St Pancras, and is easily reached by car from the A2 and other main roads.
The Kindergarten class is the main entry point to the school, and thus Bronte Nursery children heading for Bronte School usually leave the Nursery in September following their 3rd birthday. Admissions are accepted for our Reception Class, which has a maximum of 20 children, if places are available. For those heading for other schools, the Nursery’s Yellow Room (‘Pre-School’) acts as an ideal preparation for school life.
